I drive, through the early evening, toward a rapidly setting sun. It stops. Something stops. Perhaps that pounding in my chest, whatever imagined loss or needless struggles I’d invented. And here, as miles of road pass beneath me, the sky opens impossibly.
The road is empty, I am alone. There are no cameras, no pictures, no other eyes to see. This sunset is for me alone. The sky is electric, exploding into vivid hues of red or purple, staining the whole world.
I am lost.
Onwards.
